Agreed. The best team plays the worst team and then work on in from there, just like the March Madness bracket. The whole wildcard/4 division thing ruined it.

I've said this & asked this many times. The existing structure gives very little reward to teams that finish high in the standings.

The English rugby league have the pick your opponent finals system although I'm not sure how it works.

I'd like to see round 1 match ups have no extra time, with the higher seed winning if the game is drawn. That's a huge advantage & something worth fighting for in the normal season.
